I ran the 2014 ODDyssey Half Marathon on June 8th ‘14 at Philadelphia with the Garden State Cheetahs running group. It was quite warm during the morning of the race and I was relieved and exhausted when done.

Finishers got free beer at the finish line. The cold beer was a relief after the run under the hot sun.

Which explains this ODD medal.  Its also a bottle opener! I enjoyed my run, though I wish there was crowd support, which sadly was negligent except for some cheering at the finish line.

Steamtown Marathon, PA

I will be running again after more than 2 years.  I had last run the NYC Marathon in 2010 just a few days before my mother passed away. After her death I stopped running and could not get myself to lace up my shoes and hit the road.  However, beginning of this year I decided I should start being healthy and get fit. I have started walking long distances interspersed with some running during the walks.

The race is on October 13, 2013 near Scranton, PA. I hope to start training soon and do well at this marathon.

Grete Waitz won the NYC marathon a record 9 times. Sadly she just passed away.  Here she is running with Fred Lebow, the NYC Marathon founder.

Grete Waitz was dubbed the Queen of the road after her amazing record. Its sad that both Fred and now Grete succumbed to Cancer. She was just 57.

Two years after this run, Fred died from remission of brain cancer. He was 62.

Though Fred and Grete are NYC’s  running legends, Grete was from Norweigh and Fred was born in Romania.

What an amazing achievement by both of them.
